Small Chops: He Counts the Stars

Small Chops: A Nigerian term for Canapés, Hors d’oeuvres and the like. Small Chops: Quick thoughts of mine My guy said 50AED for one, I laughed in exchange rates (£9-£11 for a BALLOON?? in which economy? 🤷🏾‍♀️)… but they do make for dope pics. “He heals the brokenhearted and bandages their wounds. He counts the stars and calls them all by name. How great is our Lord! His power is absolute! His understanding is beyond comprehension!” ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭147:3-5‬ ‭NLT‬‬ #TwinkleTwinkle #BalloonPurcahseWasntInTheBudget #PictureWillLastLonger 🎈 Shine bright in the Glory of God’s goodness!! ✌🏾 @OlayideM

Small Chops: Shine Your Light

Small Chops: A Nigerian term for Canapés, Hors d’oeuvres and the like. Small Chops: Quick thoughts of mine La Mer, Dubai, UAE, April 2018 Tough times speak of who you truly are and they really test your beliefs/faith. I’ve been working on a conference since October and it’s taking place in a few days, and today was gonna be my FIRST PEAK day! It was just a WAWU! In such situations I HAVE TO pray to keep my cool because I must remain a Child of THE LIGHT so that EVERYONE WILL PRIASE MY HEAVENLY FATHER. #BeTheLightToDirectTheWay 🙏🏾 #DontNEPAYourDayAway #SometimesShutYourMouthAndPraiseInYourHeart #LORDForgiveMeForSaying💩 😂😂😂 (MATE!) ““You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.” ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭5:14-16‬ ‭NLT‬‬ Signed, @OlayideM

Life: In Conclusion

In conclusion I am choosing to walk hand-in-hand with God and His purpose for my life. I am choosing, with His help, that in the coming year and years to come, I will start each day with my conclusion – my introduction and middle will eventually write themselves. “In conclusion…” That’s how most of my secondary school/GSCE essays ended. It was the beginning of the end, the part where I placed emphasis on the ‘argument’ I said I’ll prove in the introduction. The conclusion was also something we were usually told to write or brainstorm first – “think about how you’d like to end your essay, that tends to help with how you start your essay.” Most times, life is an essay and at this time of year a number of us are ‘proof reading’ our lives to ensure that all our A-grade points have been made and to be honest, it’s overwhelming. 365 days can often feel like the 2-hour GCSE Anthropology English exam in a dead-silent-smelly sports hall, on the hard plastic chairs, while …

Life: No New Friends

I closed my Bible, switched off the light and cried. The fact that Nehemiah’s donkey couldn’t make it up the rubble of the ruined city walls wasn’t what moved me to tears (albeit Biblical), what caused me to cry was indeed the title of a Drake song I’ve never actually heard (my cousin Tumi would be disappointed). It dawned on me that three months after moving to Dubai, I hadn’t made as much social-life progress as I would have liked. You see this move is the most different from the other times I’ve lived abroad, because there had been a time limit and each came with additional people to ‘share’ my experiences with – that’s what we had in common that’s what brought us together so quickly to form the friendships we had. But this time around, I came alone. I found myself wailing crying because in this whole ‘thing’ I miss my family the most. I miss the noise and laughter that comes with having two younger brothers with whom I watch reruns of My …
